Make Some Changes With Your Eating Habits

If you’re serious this time about losing weight, you should realize that you have to make some changes in your eating habits. Before you start on a new diet plan, review what kinds of food you have been eating; they’re likely to be the main reason you gained the extra pounds that you now want to get rid of. Find out the right amount of calories you should be taking daily based on your sex and height. Look for healthy substitutes for the foods that you need to drop.

Eat plenty of fruits. Fruits with a high content of calcium or Vitamin C will help you lose weight. Many fruits have fiber which makes you feel full faster so that you end up eating less food. Mixing a little lemon juice in your drinking water also helps you shed pounds. Another health benefit from fruits is healthy skin.

Make Sure You Drink 8 Glasses of Water A Day

Drink more water – not just the minimum 8 glasses a day. If you’re trying to lose weight, you need to drink even more.  A glass of water taken before a meal will make you feel full sooner. Warm or tepid water is better than cold water, which may cause bloating. You should also drink more water in the daytime for better weight loss. Water not only keeps your body hydrated, making it work better; it also helps flush out waste materials from your system.

Make exercise a part of your daily routine. You’ll find resources online on exercise routines targeting certain areas of your body, such as your abs. There are good fat-burning exercises you can do without having to go to the gym, such as jogging, jumping rope, or cycling.

Eat 5 or 6 Small Meals A Day

One of the best dieting strategies is to eat five or six small meals in the course of the day instead of two or three big ones. When you eat less food, your digestive system can work more efficiently and you will feel more energetic. Take the last meal of the day at least three hours before retiring. Do some light physical activity for at least 15 minutes after a meal.

Don’t skip breakfast, but don’t eat a heavy one either. Take a glass of fresh fruit juice with a fruit of your choice. Grapefruit is one of the dieter’s favorite fruits. Don’t drink canned or processed fruit juice which usually has added sugar. For lunch and dinner, have a salad of fresh greens minus the salad dressing, and a vegetable dish which should be steamed or boiled, not fried.

Avoid Food & Drink Loaded with Sugar

Just a reminder, because you already know you should avoid them. We’re talking about foods loaded with sugar (soft drinks, chocolates, pastries, etc.) and fat (fried foods, ice cream, and dairy products). Reduce alcohol consumption to the barest minimum. Since you need calcium, drink low-fat milk (preferably 1% fat) instead of whole milk.
